Just made this today. I added mushrooms and carrots and then a couple of hours before it was finished, I added asparagus. It was a huge hit! So good! This is going on rotation.

These Slow Cooker Pork Chops are a lighter take on smothered pork chops, skipping the heavy sauce but still delivering amazing flavor—perfect for an easy weeknight dinner.
The pork chops cook up tender with plenty of onions and pair well with winter or summer sides. I don’t grill much in the summer—I prefer meat that’s fall-apart tender, and the crockpot always gets it just right

Key Ingredients
Boneless pork chops – Boneless pork chops are just the right size for individual portions.
Worcestershire sauce – A secret ingredient to make just about any slow cooker recipe even better!! If you’ve never looked up what Worcestershire sauce in it, it has: lemon, vinegar, molasses, anchovies, garlic, and more. What a combination!
Seasonings – Salt, pepper, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and brown sugar.
Apple cider vinegar – Adds a layer of flavor and cuts back on the sweetness.
Sweet yellow onion – Use one large sweet yellow onion or two small ones.
Salted butter – Butter keeps the sauce rich and helps the chops stay tender
How to Make Slow Cooker Pork Chops
- Give the pork chops a quick sear so they don’t taste flat after slow cooking.
- Build a tangy-sweet base that turns into a buttery sauce as it cooks.
- Let the onions break down into the sauce while the pork finishes tender.

Tips & Variations
Add More Veggies: Carrots, potatoes, green beans, and mushrooms can be added to the crockpot along with the onions for a complete, flavorful meal.
Lighten it Up: The butter can be left out but it does add a lot of flavor to the dish.
Apples: To add sweetness, add one sliced granny smith apple.
Cut Swap: This recipe is very versatile; you can use any cut of pork. You can use bone-in pork chops or even pork tenderloin.

How to Serve Slow Cooker Pork Chops
Here are my favorite ways to serve these pork chops.
- Slow Cooker Baked Beans – my favorite way to serve pork chops. Try a little bite of beans with each bite of the chops! Or try my Slow Cooker Corn on the Cob, a perfect summer recipe.
- Mashed Potatoes are a perfect side, along with caramelized onion pork chops.
- Tossed salad with dressing – We love making a semi-homemade dressing with ranch dressing mix, buttermilk, and mayo.
- Rice pilaf – Grab a box of your favorite mix at the store.
- Baked Potatoes – Aren’t baked potatoes the easiest side ever? Wash and dry your potatoes in the morning and wrap them in foil. They will be ready to pop in the oven when you arrive home from work.

What is the Best Onion to Use?
Sweet yellow onions go best with pork chops, though red onions will do if you can’t find sweet onions. The dish will look different with red onions, but still have great flavor.

Do Pork Chops have to Be Browned Before Going into a Slow Cooker?
No, pork chops don’t have to be browned before going into the slow cooker. Browning just adds extra flavor and better color, but the recipe still works without it.

Equipment
Ingredients
- 2 lb. boneless pork chops, (about 4-5 chops)
- cooking oil
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/8 tsp. red pepper flakes

- 1/3 cup salted butter, sliced
Instructions
- Start by setting a skillet on the stove top over medium high heat. When the pan is hot just enough cooking oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Brown the pork chops on both sides, don’t worry about cooking through the slow cooker will do that. Set aside for now.
- Add the Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, salt, pepper, garlic powder and red pepper flakes in to the slow cooker, stir together with something that won’t scratch your slow cooker.
- Add the browned pork chops, then add the onions and butter slices.
- Cover and cook on Low for 6 hours without opening the lid during the cooking time.
- Serve and enjoy!

Excellent. Took advice from prior post and doubled the sauce ingredients. My wife who doesn’t like onions, eat every bit of the meal. Now in my meal rotation. Thank you for this recipe.
I made this recipe & loved it. The pork was moist & so tender. I think I would double the scrumptious sauce & add another onion. I never cooked with apple cider vinegar before. it brightened the sauce & so good over the pork & onions. This is a keeper. Thank You@
We loved this wick and easy recipe. Served with green bean and rice! Awesome meal! Thanks!
This recipe was wonderful. Followed it almost exactly only used bone in pork chops and added fresh sliced garlic. My Honey loved it and said it’s a keeper. Thanks for the recipe!

I’m wondering if I can make this successfully without the brown sugar?
I think it will still be great without the brown sugar.
Great receipe love it so good .
Made this it was a hit. The pork chops were fork tender. I browned the onions in the skillet after removing the pork chops to a plate. I personally think I will double or triple the sauce and double the onions the next time. I served with mashed potatoes and creamed corn. Sauce slightly thickened was good on mashed potatoes.
So tasty! Will make this for company!
