I would use cream of onion or cream of bacon if you can find it. And of course, cream of celery always works.

Can the patties be stacked (like a pyramid) in the slow cooker? I have an older model crock pot that is round and would hold maybe three separated patties but if I can stack them, it would solve that problem.

I usually wash my hands on Saturday and I’m planning to make this on Wednesday.

I currently have this in my Crock-Pot and it smells divine! It’s one of my husband’s favorites. I was trying to decide what to make for dinner and luckily you sent this recipe in an email today. I can’t wait for him to come home from work so I can surprise him. We live in the French Quarter in New Orleans so it’s been a tough time for us, especially for him as he is a sheriff’s deputy and first responder in the New Year’s Eve terrorist attack. It’s also cold (38° and we’re usually around 75°) so this will be perfect and comforting. We will follow it up with king cake for dessert as this is Kings Day, the first day of Carnival/Mardi Gras. Thank you for the recipe. I can already tell it will be on rotation in this house! ❤️

I wouldnt not have added any water. And you may have needed to add a cornstarch slurry as well.

Because it was already liquid, I decided to cut the water in half. The Salisbury steak was tasty, but the sauce was runny. It seemed thicker in the video and photos. What should I have done differently?

Thank you.

I’ve made many versions of this recipe and their always good, but this is the first on that had a gravy package included so I’m hoping it will be great on potatoes aswell. I didn’t have fresh mushrooms so used can and can’t eat onions due to acid reflux. Hope it works out.

This is a favorite in our house. I always double it because one kid can’t just eat one patty! I do make it gluten free with a gluten free soup (cream of mushroom, cream of celery, or cream of chicken – whatever I have, sometimes mix them), gluten free bread crumbs (made from scratch tonight because I’m out somehow), homemade gluten free brown gravy mix. I now have to skip the egg and actually forgot to add in the milk tonight. Ooops. Patties formed well and held together fine through the initial browning of them. Instead of water, I do broth and do not add any other salt. Actually changed up the spices a little due to a new allergy to oregano. Food allergies/sensitivities are so much fun! I no professional cook by any means, but these are the things I’ve done to make this work for us. It’s always a hit!!! Maybe not tonight because I got a late start. They’ll live 🙂
